Do not confuse fine age marks with sandpaper marks. On the one hand, it is a shame that a perfectly operational old lighter was destroyed in this manner in a quest for financial gain. Earlier lighters are much more difficult to date accurately. Remember none engraver had filled the lighter that he had just engraved excepted those, new in box, sent to the family as a gift. The next major difference is the hinge, between the two halves of the lighter case. This was used on lighters manufactured until around the end of The insert also had the same legend.
